National Treasure Matsumoto-jo Castle

Matsumoto-jo Castle, a national treasure, is located in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, with the oldest five-story, six-story castle tower in Japan, and features a beautiful contrast between black and white. It was built as Fukashi Castle during the Eisho era of the Warring States period (around 1504), and was maintained as the current Matsumoto-jo Castle by Kazumasa Ishikawa and Konaga in 1590.
Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in spring, and in the daytime you can enjoy the harmony between the castle tower and the cherry blossoms against the backdrop of the snow-covered Northern Alps. At night, the castle tower and cherry blossoms are lit up, creating a quaint landscape different from the daytime.
