National Treasure Matsumoto Castle

Matsumoto Castle, a national treasure, is located in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, with the oldest five-story six-story castle tower in Japan, characterized by a beautiful contrast between black and white. It was built as Fukashi Castle during the Eisho era (around 1504) during the Warring States period, and was maintained as the current Matsumoto Castle by Kazumasa Ishikawa and parents of Yasunaga in 1590.
Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in spring, and during the daytime you can enjoy the harmony between the castle tower and the cherry blossoms against the backdrop of the snowy Northern Alps. At night, the castle tower and cherry blossoms are lit up, creating a quaint scenery different from daytime.
