National Treasure Matsumoto-jo Castle

Matsumoto-jo Castle, a national treasure, is located in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, with the oldest five-sixth floor castle tower in Japan, and features a beautiful contrast between black and white. It was built as Fukashi Castle during the Eisho era (around 1504) during the Warring States period, and in 1590, it was maintained as the current Matsumoto-jo Castle by Kazumasa Ishikawa and Yasunaga.
Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in spring, and during the daytime you can enjoy the harmony between the castle tower and the cherry blossoms against the backdrop of the snow-covered Northern Alps. At night, the castle tower and cherry blossoms are lit up, giving you a quaint scenery different from daytime.
